The Man You Could Have Been

I met a lion entity,

That does not know its true identity,

Confuses grass for meat,

Munches hay instead of prey.

I met a dog that barks at day instead of night,

Not realising the potential of it being a night,

Useless! The owner said

For what use is a light if it cannot shine in the dark.

I met a woman who could sing her lungs out,

Drawing all the animals out,

Singing only to the funiture in the house,

Providing dance tunes to the church mouse.

Useless is a hammer that can't hit a nail,

Or an orator without a tale,

Even a python needs a tail,

To make the perfect cocktail.
