The Love That Came Back

There is the love that left

There's the love that betrayed

There's the love that stayed

There's also the love that healed

But what about the love that came back?

A week passed,

A month went,

A year was completed.

We were apart, we barely talked when we pass by each other in the hallway.

Only stares, stares that we didn't let show too much.

We acted like we were okay, like everything was back to normal, and we were just strangers.

But we were strangers who knew each other,

Our laughs, our tears, our expressions, our feelings.

Our conversations, our jokes, our fights, our love.

We knew it all.

But a year passed and we tried to forget it all.

And then one day, we passed each other in the hallway,

And because we were strangers, we tried to make conversation.

And like old times, our conversation went on and on, it seemed like forever.

I followed you home, our hands grazed lightly, our eyes met briefly, our feelings returned strongly.

The day is over,

You say, 'I'll see you tomorrow'.

And now I'm here, waiting for tomorrow to come so we begin yesterday all over again.
