I know there's been like, a thousand, no, a billion poems about the stars.
So I'm not going to write one,
This isn't a poem, it's a realization.
Realizing the stars were like nothing that had ever happened to me before.
The wonder of it,
It was like I had never felt wonder before,
Like I had never seen anything beautiful in my life,
Like I was just starting to live life, like a newborn babe,
Like I was reborn.
The images in books? Online? Social media?
They don't do them justice, in fact, they dim their light.
Their brightness,
Their wonder, their beauty, their illuminencence.
They make little of their magic.
I had a taste and I wanted to sit under the stars forever,
To just stare at them on and on,
Because their light is a force to be reckoned with,
It draws you in, compels you.
I remember sitting there and thinking,
If I were in a coma, I'd want to stare at them.
Their light just might bring me back.
I remember sitting there and thinking,
No one, absolutely no one, deserves to live under their canopy, day after day,
No one, definitely not us humans.
We don't stare at it with the wonder it deserves,
We don't describe it with enough words,
We don't appreciate it with enough gratitude.
The stars,
They are works of art, magical art, that can never be understood or contained.
They are beyond.
